Odisha Health Min takes stock of cholera situation in Rayagada

Odisha Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak today went on a visit to Rayagada and took stock of cholera situation in Palama panchayat of Kalyansinghpur block in the district.

Nayak held a meeting with the district Collector and Joint Director of Health Department in this regard. “Two persons have died of diarrhoea in Palama. There is no reason to panic as teams of the Health Department are on alert in the area. Some volunteers will be roped in to spread awareness among people to drink boiled water,” the minister said after the meeting.

Meanwhile, cholera claimed another life in the block today taking the death toll to five. More than 30 cholera patients are currently undergoing treatment, sources said.

A team of doctors had arrived in Palama yesterday for treatment of the cholera affected persons. Besides, a 24×7 temporary medical camp has been opened in the area, sources added.
