Odisha heptathlete Purnima Hembram ties knot

Bhubaneswar: Heptathlete Purnima Hembram began a new innings in her life and tied the knot with Arjun Tudu, a national level football player from Jharkhand, on Saturday.

The wedding was solemnised at Purnima’s native place at Asana village in Mayurbhanj district as per Santali tradition in presence of family, relatives and friends in a grand way.

Arjun Tudu is the eldest son of Chunu and Sugi Tudu of Parsudih area in the city of Jamshedpur. Currently, he is posted in Indian Army.

Several delegates including Purnima’s coach Sanjay Gadnayak, Physiotherapist Dr. Soven Kumar and former footballer Kuber Behera were among others, who witnessed the marriage.

The 26-year-old Purnima has won more than a ton medals both in state and national heptathlon events so far. The track and field athlete had clinched bronze medals at 2015 and 2017 Asian Championships. She had finished fourth in 2018 Asian Games.
