Bhubaneswar, June 15:

A 32-year-old person was today found dead in a room in Hotel Kanishk near the Rajmahal Square in Orissa's capital city, Bhubaneswar.

The deceased was identified as Babula Nayak of Bhimapada under the Bolagada police limits in Khordha district, who was staying in the Badagada area here and working as a sweeper in the Hotel Kanishka for the last seven years.

According to the owner of the hotel Sayed Faiz Ahmed, he rushed to the hotel this afternoon as soon as he got to know of the death of the sweeper in room-112. He immediately informed the police about the incident.

The Capital police have sent the body to the Capital Hospital for autopsy. They also conducted a thorough search in the hotel room for clues and collected CCTV footage from the hotel for verification of details recorded by the cameras.

Meanwhile, the wife of the deceased Jayanti Nayak, who reached the hotel after getting information about the death of her husband, held the hotel management responsible for his husband’s murder. She demanded stringent action against the culprits involved in the murder.

Jayanti, mother of two children, revealed that her husband had enmity with two members of the hotel staff, Bulu and Trinath, with whom he had a fight over some issues earlier.

“They should be interrogated properly by the police to get at truth behind the murder,” she said.

Inspector-in-charge of Capital police station Manas Ranjan Garanaik said they have registered a case and would begin investigation after they get the autopsy report.
