Odisha hotelier murder case cracked; 5 held
Rourkela: In a breakthrough in the murder of ‘Basera’ hotel owner in Rourkela city last month, the police arrested five persons including the prime accused today. Also, the police seized two country-made guns and a stolen Pulsar motorcycle from the possession of the five accused.
As per reports, owner of Hotel Deluxe Lane, Dilip Kumar Sharma hired contract killers to eliminate the owner of ‘Basera’ hotel, Sajjan Mittal as the hotelier was not ready to vacate the market complex. The deal was finalized for Rs 2.5 lakh and an advance payment of Rs 40,000 was paid to the accused.
On February 9, 2021, when Sajjan was entering his house, the accused attacked him at around 10:45 PM. In the meantime, two bike borne miscreants attacked the hotelier with an iron rod. He wreathed in pain while the attackers fled the spot. His family members rushed him to the spot after haering screams for help. He was declared dead while undergoing treatment at the IGH.
The accused were identified s Rajat Biswakarma from Gandhi Road, Deluxe hotel owner Dilip Kumar Sharma, Rajesh Singh alias Raju, Aman Prasad from Bihar and Nil Paul alias Sarada from Koelnagar. One associate of the prime accused is still at large.
