Odisha House Committee on Polavaram to meet today, take a final view

The House Committee, formed to look into possible damages and losses to be caused to the state by the upcoming controversial Polavaram project in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, will be holding its first meeting at the Odisha Assembly today at 4.30 pm, Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh said.

The meeting of the House Committee, which has members from all political parties, will be chaired by the Speaker Niranjan Pujari.

Minister Arukh said he hoped the House Committee will take a firm decision in the state’s interest as Polavaram project will be affecting the people of Odisha.

Arukh said the Committee will decide on the future course of action vis-a-vis the Polavaram project, addding, the committee will prepare a memorandum for submission to the prime minister by an all party delegation and if the situation so demanded, would meet the President of India.
