Malkangiri district collector D Prasanth Kumar Reddy ordered an inquiry and sent Irma for medical examination after the latter met him at his office today and narrated his ordeal.

Irma Madkami, a migrant labourer from Titang village had gone to Vijayawada in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh to work in a firm engaged in digging of bore wells.

In April 2014 while working in the firm Irma met with an accident and was hospitalized in Vijayawada. In the mishap, he sustained grievous injuries in his excretory system for which bypass surgery was conducted on him. After undergoing treatment for a few days at the hospital he was sent back home by his employer who had given him Rs 10,000 at the time of departure.

As there was no improvement in Irma’s health after he returned home his family members took him to the same hospital in Vijayawada.

There he was advised to undergo another surgery. Since they didn’t have the necessary money they returned home.

On his return, he was taken to a local doctor, who after conducting necessary examination discovered that one of his kidneys had been extracted.

We had reported Irma’s sorrowful saga here.
