Odisha KMBM Football: Tapoban, Kalinga enter pre-quarters

Bhubaneswar, Aug 30:

Tapoban High School and Kalinga Vidyapitha entered the pre-quarter finals of the 25th  Kalinga Marine-Bibekananda Memorial (KMBM) Inter School Football, a major inter-school tournament at the Unit-VI Govt Boys’ High School ground today.

FootballIn a Group-C match, Tapoban High School beat Prabhujee English Medium School by 2-1 goals.

For Tapoban, Birsa Soren and Mohan Hansda scored a goal each in the 5th and 31st minute respectively while Satyam Sahoo of Prabhujee reduced the margin in the 33rd minute.

With this win, Tapoban  are at the top in Group-C with four points.

Venkateswar English Medium School, which had drawn its two league matches against Tapoban and Prabhujee, also qualified for the last-16 stage, having finished second in this group.

In the Group-D match, Kalinga Vidyapitha thrashed St Xavier’s School, Khandagiri by 4-1 goals.

Prakash Naik was the top scorer with two goals while his team mates Bikash Naik and Rajesh Bhoi scored one goal each.

For St Xavier’s, Sabyasachi Soren scored the only goal.

With this win, their first in two outings, Kalinga Vidyapitha finished second in Group D, behind Ramakrushna Sikhya Kendra, which had already reached the pre-quarterfinals, winning both its league games.

Unit-VI Athletic Association will organise a quiz competition on football World Cup at Unit-VI Govt Boys’ High School at 2 PM tomorrow.

Two students from each of the 24 participating schools would take part in the competition, which is a part of silver jubilee celebration of the ongoing tournament.
