Odisha KMBM Football: Vikash Residential upset Xavier’s International

Vikash Residential School caused a major upset as they beat last year’s runners-up St Xavier’s International School by 2-1 goals in a hard-fought Group-E league match of the 25th Kalinga Marine-Bibekananda Memorial (KMBM) Inter-School Football Tournament at Unit-VI Govt Boys’ High School ground here today.

Vikash Residential School took the lead when Sampad Patra scored the first goal in the 10th minute. Eight minutes later, Singri Soren scored the second goal for his team.

In the second half, Ritesh Prasad of the Xavier International School scored the first goal for his team in the 35th minute.

However, the team failed to score the equaliser despite several attempts.

Sampad Patra of the winning team was adjudged the player of the match.

This was the first win in two matches for Vikash Residential, who had lost their opening match against Sai International School by 0-2 goals. The team completed its group engagements with three points.

In the next matches, Tapoban High School will meet Prabhujee English Medium School and Kalinga Bidyapitha will take on St Xavier’s School, Khandagiri tomorrow.
