Odisha landmine blast: Injured SOG jawan shifted to VSS Hospital

A jawan of Odisha’s elite Special Operation Group (SOG), injured in a landmine blast during a combing operation in Odisha’s Bolangir district, was shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital today where his condition is stated to be serious.

According to reports, the SOG jawan was seriously injured in a landmine explosion triggered by Maoists in Tureikala area of Bolangir district on Thursday.

The personnel was rushed to Patnagarh Sub-Divisional hospital in a profusely bleeding condition and then shifted to District Headquarters Hospital in Bolangir. He was later shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla and his condition was stated to be serious, police said.

“The jawan was injured in combing operation in a forest area near Kameimunda village yesterday when the landmine went off. He has been shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital for treatment,” Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Titilagarh, Dillip Purohit said.

Meanwhile, combing operation has been intensified in the area following the incident. Police added.
