Out of a total of 488 candidates, seven from Odisha including Suvendu have cleared the examination which was conducted by the Supreme Court of India.

This is the second time in the history of the Supreme Court that an Odia advocate has secured first position in the examination.

The six other advocates who have come out successful in the test are Anindita Pujari, Pinky Behera, Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi, Prakash Ranjan Nayak, Subhasish Mohanty and Ramendra Mohan Patnaik.

These advocates add to the other 13 Advocates-on-Record from Odisha practicing at the Supreme Court at present.

A native of Salipur in Cuttack district, Suvendu completed LLM from Madhusudan Law College, Cuttack. After a brief stint of practice in the chambers of Dr Akshaya Kumar Rath, who is now elevated as Judge of the Odisha High Court, Suvendu started his practice at the Supreme Court under the guidance of Advocate-on-Record Ashok Panigrahi in April 2009.

Besides Suvendu, advocate Sanjeev Kumar Panigrahi has become the topper from the Law Institute, Bangalore.
