Odisha Legislators to undergo Covid test ahead of monsoon session of Assembly

Bhubaneswar: As winter session of the Odisha Assembly has been scheduled to begin from September 1, MLAs and employees of the Assembly will go through RT-PCR test.

As per a decision taken during a meeting chaired by Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro today, Legislators, their drivers and personal staff, and employees of the House will go for RT-PCR test from 8.30 AM to 1.30 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM on August 29, 30 and 31 on the Assembly premises.

MLAs and employees of the Assembly who test Covid-19 negative will be allowed to enter the Assembly.

Also, Legislators, their personal staff and the Assembly Secretariat employees who did not receive at least single dose of the vaccine will not be permitted to visit the House, said official sources.

During the monsoon session the MLAs will receive mask, sanitiser and gloves daily, the sources added.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been given the task to sanitise the Assembly premises.

Among others, Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra, RMRC Director S Pati, Director of Capital Hospital Laxmidhar Sahu, Odisha Assembly Secretary Dasarathi Satapathy were present in the meeting.
