Odisha: Loud DJ music claims life of groom’s father during marriage procession

Malkangiri: Wedding celebrations turned sour as the father of the groom died reportedly due to loud DJ music during marriage procession in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, last night. The deceased was identified as Mahendra Rohila of Delhi.

According to reports, Mahendra and his kin had come to Malkangiri and were residing in a hotel for the marriage of his son Ankit with a girl of Lathiaguda in Malkangiri.

While the groom’s family members were heading towards the residence of the bride in a procession, Mahendra complained of illness and collapsed due to high-decibel music played by the DJ.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where doctor declared him dead. Police recovered the body and handed it over to the kin of the deceased after post-mortem. Further investigation into the incident was underway.

High drama unfolded after cancellation of the wedding due to the death as the groom staged a dharna in front of the hotel with the body and demanded to take the bride with him.

The matter turned ugly as he reportedly thrashed the bride and her mother.

Notably, the groom, who works in Delhi, had befriended the girl on Facebook. As their relationship later developed into a love affair, their family members had fixed their marriage.
