Odisha man attacks daughter-in-law after rape bid

Balasore: In a shocking incident, a person allegedly attacked his daughter-in-law after trying to rape her in Nilagiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district yesterday.

According to reports, the accused initially attempted to rape the woman and later thrashed her with a lathi.

A written complaint in this regard has been lodged at the Nilagairi police station. The woman has also alleged that her husband and in-laws poured kerosene over her and tried to torch her alive.

Hearing her screams for help, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her. She was later hospitalised.

Police have started investigation into the incident. The woman was also tortured by her in-laws in the past over dowry demand, reports said.
