Odisha: Man killed for resisting rape attempt on wife

Sundergarh: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 60-year-old man was killed for resisting a rape attempt on his wife by a distant relative at Kulaba village under Kinjirikela police station in Sundergarh district. However, a police complaint has been registered in connection with the incident.

Reportedly, one Tribasi Mahanandia (45) had ill intention towards the wife of Sahadev Mahanandia (60) of Kulaba village. Today morning, he allegedly attempted to rape her. However, she managed to escape and later informed her husband about the incident.

When Sahadev went and asked the accused about the incident, the latter started beating the 60 year-old man and his wife Sita (52) with wooden sticks. Sustaining critical injuries, Sahadev was admitted to district headquarters hospital (DHH), where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, accused Tribasi  has absconded after the incident. A case has been registered and investigation into the incident is on, said a police official.
