A letter written by the sexagenarian Gouranga Parhi missing since 1974 reached his native village of Jarida under Soro in Balasore district.

Happiness knew no bounds after his family received the letter from Gouranga written from a Pakistan jail.

According to sources, the 64-year-old man went missing while he was just 22 years old. He had left behind his wife and two sons then.

In the letter, Gouranga has said that he is staying in a miserable condition in a Kangra jail in Pakistan. He has appealed to his family members to initiate steps to secure his release.

“When his father was alive, he had searched for him at many places but in vain. He had spent a lot of money searching for his son,” Sabitri Parhi, wife of Gouranga said.
