Odisha man reprimands son for using mobile phone, both commit suicide

Aska: An elderly person and his son committed suicide following a dispute between the two over mobile phone usage of the latter at Kushapada village under Dharakote police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

According to reports, one Rajendra Panda of the village last evening reprimanded his son Kalpabata Panda for excess use of mobile phone and advised him to pay attention towards studies, following which he ran away from the house.

Though his family members searched for him at various places but in vain.

This morning, some locals spotted Kalpabata’s body hanging from a tree near the village and informed the deceased’s father. On reaching the spot, Rajendra, blaming himself for the tragedy, committed suicide in the presence of the villagers.

He was rushed to Aska hospital, where doctor declared him brought dead. The two bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the tragic incident. Police have started investigation into the matter.
