Odisha: Man trapped under coal mound at colliery dies

Angul: In a tragic incident, a 57-year-old man died after being trapped under coal mound at Nandira colliery in Talcher area of Odisha’s Angul district today. The deceased has been identified as Gangadhar Das Jirala village in Dhenkanal district.

According to reports, Das and 11 others were working at the coal mine in the first shift this morning when a big chunk of coal fell on him killing the person on the spot. He was working as a dresser at the colliery.

Another worker, identified as Naresh Biswal, sustained critical injuries in the mishap and has been admitted to the Neheru Satabdi Central Hospital in Talcher for treatment.

Police have recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation.
