The Odisha government will construct a hi-tech auditorium in the Odisha Maritime Trade Museum (OMTM) premises at Jobra in Cuttack.
A decision to this effect was taken at the second OMTM Board meeting, presided over by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, here today.
The museum had 95,000 visitors in 2013-14 and has already had 36,000 visitors in the last four months since April this year, the meeting revealed.
The museum, which earned revenue worth Rs 1.32 crore revenue in 2013-14, hopes to earn Rs 1.35 crore in the current fiscal.
The meeting decided to raise the present corpus fund of the museum from Rs 12 crore to Rs 20 crore.
Apart from this, it was decided to make a documentary film on the museum.
In order to popularise the museum, the chief minister asked the museum authorities to circulate the brochure to the travel agencies.
Among others, development of river bank tourism and boating facilities near the museum were also discussed at the meeting.
