Bhubaneswar: The state Government today decided to resume evaluation of Matric exam answer sheets from May 20, which was earlier halted midway in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) officials under chairmanship of School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
“Evaluation will start from May 20. The evaluators will be asked to report at respective evaluation centres on May 19,” informed the Minister.
The evaluation will be held at 60 centres throughout the state in adherence to social distancing norms. If any evaluation centre is located in containment zone, the board will take further decision on that. Besides, the BSE is considering to provide special incentives to the invigilators.
“We will try to declare the results by July end,” Dash asserted.
More than five lakh students had appeared in the annual board exam held between February 19 and March 2. Evaluation was held for two days on March 18 and 19 before being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
