Odisha: Mercury hovers above 40 degrees Celsius in four places

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre informed the day temperature in four places of Odisha touched 40 degrees Celsius or above today.

As per the data provided by the meteorological centre, Titlagarh was the hottest in the State with maximum temperature at 41 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Balangir and Sonepur at 40.5 degrees Celsius and 40.2 degrees Celsius, respectively. Baripada was at 40 degrees Celsius.

Three places in the State recorded 39 degrees Celsius or above. Angul and Boudh recorded 39.7 degrees Celsius and 39.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, whereas Talcher was at 39 degrees Celsius.

There might be some respite to people in the next two days as the Meteorological Centre has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower in some districts on March 21 and 22.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on March 21, it forecasted.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on March 22.
