Odisha: Minimum wages for workers of different categories revised

Bhubaneswar: The variable dearness allowance was revised for different categories of employees working in 89 scheduled employments with effective from April 1, 2022.

As per a notification issued by Labour Commissioner, Odisha, N. Thirumala Naik, the variable dearness allowance at Rs 11 per day shall be payable to the unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled categories of employees in the 89 scheduled employments in addition to the minimum rate of wages notified by the Labour & ESI Department.

The minimum wage for unskilled employees was increased to Rs 326 and for semi skilled to Rs 366. Skilled employees and highly skilled employees will get new wages at Rs 416 and Rs 476 respectively.

The variable dearness allowance for the half year commencing April 1, 2022 is required to be effected on the basis of the increase in average Consumer Price Index number for industrial workers reaching 357.65 from 345.21 as on December 31, 2021.
