Odisha mining case: SC reserves ruling

Odisha Sun Times Bureau

New Delhi, Apr 28:

The Supreme Court reserved its ruling after hearing arguments on the PIL filed by an NGO Commoncause on the illegal mining in Odisha.

Senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan represented the NGO in today’s hearing.

The court is expected to pass an interim order whether the situation calls for a temporary ban on mining in the state or not.

Sources said the mines that are operating on deemed extension basis may face problems if the court disapproves of it.

More details are awaited.
