Odisha Minister claims BJP workers instigated Bargarh farmer to commit suicide

Bhubaneswar: If the claims of Odisha Labour Minister Sushant Singh are to be believed, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in for further trouble as the former today made startling revelations on Brunda Sahoo’s suicide.

The Bhatli MLA today claimed that he has video evidence to back his claims that BJP activists instigated Brunda Sahu to end his life.

“I have video evidence to corroborate my claims. I will file a police complaint with the video as the evidence. Besides, I will submit it to Chief Minister also,” Sushant Singh told media.

On the other hand, the BJP pooh-poohed the allegations and dared him to put it in public domain.

BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said, “If he has the video, why is he not showing it? This is an age-old practice of BJD to make wild allegations without any substantive evidence.”

The 55-year-old sharecropper from Kalapani village in Bargarh district allegedly committed suicide last Wednesday, a day after setting afire his pest-affected crops.

A day after he ended his life, Agriculture Minister Dr Damodar Rout ordered for a probe into the incident.
