Odisha MLA Manohar Randhari lands in trouble, family issued job card

Nabarangpur, Apr 22:

Politics hotted up in tribal district Nabarangpur over job card allegedly issued to BJD MLA Manohar Randhari’s father and wife under centrally sponsored Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

While BJP demanded Randhari’s removal from district planning committee as the chairman, Congress blocked the road yesterday demanding his arrest on the allegation brought by the party’s district tribal cell.

Congress district tribal cell president Akhila Bhatara alleged Randhari’s father Damburudhar Randhari and wife Urmila Randhari of receiving wage amount under MGNEREGA in Bhatigaon.

They were allegedly issued the job card as the beneficiaries under the centrally sponsored scheme and got benefits even though the legislator’s wife is a government employee.

However, defending Randhari, district BJD president and State Commerce & Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi refuted the allegation.

He termed the allegation against Randhari and his family ‘baseless’.

“BJP and Congress are politicising the false allegation. The MLA’s wife is a government employee, why she will apply for labour work grabbing the job card under the scheme,” he asked.
