Odisha MLA Prakash Behera likely to quit Congress

Bhubaneswar: Seems like AICC President Rahul Gandhi and her sibling Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s magic is not able to hold the party united during the polls as another leader in Odisha is likely to quit the party soon.

If media reports are to be believed, Salipur MLA Prakash Behera may resign from the Congress and is very likely to join the BJP camp ahead of the 2019 elections.

According to reports, Behera has consulted his supporters in this regard and may take a decision soon.

Earlier, there were speculations that Behera might join BJD after he was spotted standing along with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a poster put up for the Peoples Empowerment Enabling Transparency and Accountability (PEETHA) programme at Champati area in Salipur recently.

However, he refuted such report stating that his supporters might have used his photo in the BJD poster.

Meanwhile, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, who resigned from BJD yesterday, is likely to join the saffron party in New Delhi tomorrow.

It can be analysed that joining of expelled BJD leaders Baijayant Panda and Damodar Rout in BJP has motivated many in BJD and Congress camps to switch to the saffron party ahead of the polls.
