Odisha MLA’s husband booked on murder charges

Khallikote: Police registered a case against four persons including BJD MLA Suryamani Baidya’s husband Daitari Behera in the murder case of notorious criminal Sunil Nahak in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The case was registered under sections 341/324/294/302/323/307/120 (B)/34 of IPC at Kodala Police Station against Kumar Sahu, Deepak Khatua, Jitendra Pradhan and Daitari Behera following the written complaint by Manoj Pradhan of Danapur village in Ganjam district.

Sunil alias Judhistra Nahak, 42, accused in over 40 criminal cases, was allegedly beaten to death by BJD youth leader Kumar Sahu and his associates Deepak Khautua and Jitendra Pradhan on September 28.

As per the complaint, Manoj Pradhan along with his friend Sunil Nahak were attending a feast at a Ganesh Puja pandal on September 28 evening when Kumar Sahu and two others — Deepak Khatua and Jitendra Pradhan– abused the duo over political rivalry between Manoj and Daitari Behera, who is the Block Chairman of Khallikote. They attacked Sunil with a crowbar, iron rod, knife and stones to his head. He died on the spot.

According to reports, Sunil Nahak was accused in cases of murders and extortion. He along with former Danapur GP sarpanch was active in politics since long.
