The CBI team investigating the Odisha sex video scandal is now on the lookout for two close associates of Subrat Sahu alias Kalia, the prime accused in the case arrested on March 23.

One of the two is the long time driver of Kalia, who used to lure girls for his master while the other is a lawyer by profession, who used to share with Debashis Dev alias Bunty (30), who has also been arrested by the CBI, the task of videographing him in the act with these girls.

Kalia himself provided information about these two during his custodial interrogation, CBI sources said.

Bunty, who is in CBI custody till April 6, is likely to be brought to the city on Saturday by the investigating team to help locate these two and provide further leads in the case.

A Delhi Court on Thursday allowed the CBI to take Bunty on a 4-day remand. The CBI had filed a remand petition in the court seeking 7-days remand of Bunty for further interrogation into the case.

The CBI had arrested Bunty, hailing from Hulipur in Cuttack district (Odisha), on March 31 for allegedly recording the video clip without the consent of the victim/girl.

The agency had registered a case slapping charges under sections 292, 354 (C) of IPC and 66, 67-E, 67A of IT Act, 2000 against the accused.

On the directions of the Supreme Court on the complaint that video showing graphic material involving sexual crime against women are being disseminated indiscriminately to the public through electronic/digital media, the Central investigating agency had launched a manhunt the nab the culprits.

Bunty had shot the video in which Kalia is seen in a sexual act with a receptionist at his real estate firm located in VSS Nagar area in the city.

On March 28, the CBI team had raided a house in Bhimtangi area in the city where the MMS clip was allegedly shot.

CBI had earlier conducted raids at four places, including Kalia’s rented house at VSS Nagar (Plot No. BL 5) and his office and residence at GGP Colony (Plot No. 912/913) in Bhubaneswar on March 24.

The cops had seized several pen drives and CDs from his office and residence, which suggested that he had lured several other girls into sex as well, shot videos of the act and then circulated them on various internet based platforms, including WhatsApp.

It may be noted that the MMS clip of the receptionist had first leaked out back in 2010, following which the girl lodged a verbal complaint with the Commissionerate Police.

Later, she approached a Hyderabad based voluntary organization called Prajwala, which filed a petition with the Supreme Court. The video clip of the Odisha girl was one of the two submitted by Prajwala to the Supreme Court.

Notably, Sahu was arrested on March 23 after the Supreme Court ordered the CBI to probe the videos of sexual acts, including rapes or gang rapes, of unidentified victims uploaded on social networking sites, including WhatsApp, by unknown people.
