Odisha MP seeks Rs 400 cr for post-cyclone repair

Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Rajya Sabha MP Bhupinder Singh today sought Rs 399.83 crore to meet the expenses on repair and reconstruction works due to the damage caused by cyclone and severe floods in the state.

“It is a genuine due to Odisha. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already cleared it but the Expenditure Department has not. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also written a number of times to the Centre on the issue,” Singh said.

He said after severe flood, Odisha faced Hudhud cyclone and substantial funds need to be pumped in to make up for the losses in the state.

Members from Left parties, Trinamool Congress and other regional parties supported the BJD demand.

The Odisha MP raised the issue during the Zero Hour in the parliament today.
