Odisha Nabakalebara: info kiosks to be set up in Puri

The Odisha government today decided to set up information kiosks at different places of Puri during the Nabakalebara Rath Yatra to disseminate information to tourists and devotees on the schedule of rituals of the Lords, transport, accommodation, health facilities, police assistance, information about different tourist places etc.

In view of the large congregation of tourists and devotees to the tune of 50 lakh expected in Puri during what is the century’s first Nabakalebara of Lord Jagannath, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed the Information and Public Relations department to make special arrangements for dissemination of accurate information since precise information is very important for the successful conduct of the Nabakalebara Yatra.

Chairing a high level review meeting, the Chief Minister also asked the department to prepare an informative booklet on the Nabakalebara Yatra while stressing the need for extensive publicity through television, radio and other media.

It was revealed at the meeting that construction of 33 temporary shelters was underway at different places in Puri for providing suitable accommodation to tourists during the Yatra. These completely fire-proof shelters with a total surface area of 14 lakh sq ft will accommodate one lakh tourists. Arrangements for separate toilets and bathrooms for men and women are being made in these shelters apart from provision of round the clock power, drinking water and first aid facilities.

Sufficient number of CCTV cameras have been installed for the security of the tourists as well as to keep a watch on movement pf pilgrims. Tourists will be provided with real-time information through mobile app. Railway stations, bus stands, temporary shelters, traffic movement and other facilities will be monitored under the direct command of RDC (Central).
