Odisha NIFT launches course in fashion design

Keeping in mind Odisha’s rich art and culture and the demand of the student community, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar has added a full-fledged department of Fashion Design to the courses offered by it.

The school of Fashion Design was inaugurated at NIFT’s Bhubaneswar campus here by Union Textiles Secretary Sanjay Kumar Panda today. Later, the Chief Guest moved around and interacted with the young designers.

An exhibition of various designs developed by the students was also organized to mark the occasion.

Prem Kumar Gera, Director General of NIFT, Smt. Chitra Arumugum, State’s Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts and Dr. K C S Ray, Director, NIFT Bhubaneswar were also present on the occasion.

NIFT Bhubaneswar was established in the year 2010 with an undergraduate and a post graduate course to start with. Over the last four years, the institute has established itself with state of the art infrastructure and is presently running five undergraduate and one post graduate courses in fashion design, technology and fashion management.

With excellent lab facilities and academic amenities, the institute has emerged as a brand to reckon with in Fashion technology in the country.
