Odisha officials asked to intensify campaign on social distancing, mask-wearing & hand hygiene

Bhubaneswar: To make people aware of the inevitable need of social distancing, mask-wearing and proper hand hygiene, Odisha Government today instructed the Information Public Relation (I & PR), Panchayati Raj, Women and Child Development (W & CD) and Mission Shakti Departments to intensify IEC (Information, Education and Communication ) activities with active involvement of community.

At a meeting held here today,  Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy reviewed the progress of IEC activities and Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities in the state. Officials from I&PR, Panchayati Raj, W&CD and Mission Shakti Departments attended the meeting. The Chief Secretary directed the officials to organise ward-level COVID-19 committee meetings in rural and urban areas within a week.

“The campaign will focus on spreading awareness among people on inevitable need of social distancing, mask-wearing and hand hygiene to curb spread of the virus,” said Asit Tripathy.

Officials have been directed to use social media in addition with TV, radio, mics and posters for the campaign.
