Odisha okays grant-in-aid for private Sanskrit college teachers

There is good news for teachers and employees of non-government Sanskrit colleges in Odisha, the Cabinet today approved a proposal to implement grant-in-aid system for them. A total of 243 lecturers and 60 employees will be benefited.

“The grant-in-aid order for teachers of non-government Sanskrit colleges has been amended to bring them on par with 662 category block grant teachers. After this amendment they will get basic pay plus grade pay and one increment,”said Aditya Prasad Padhi briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting at the state secretariat here today.

In another significant decision, the Cabinet also approved a proposal to amend Odisha Excise Rules empowering the state government to issue licences for opening liquor shops in the state. Earlier, Excise Commissioner was the licensing authority.

The Cabinet also gave its stamp of approval to amend the Odisha Judicial Service Rules-2007. While the allowances of the Advocate General has been doubled, allowances of law officers appointed in courts have been increased.

The Cabinet in its meeting today approved eight proposals in total.
