Odisha: One killed, another injured in mishaps during Diwali

Bhadrak/Bhanjanagar: One person was killed and another critically injured in separate accidents in the State during Diwali celebrations this evening.

The deceased was identified as Prakash Chandra Ojha of Padmapur village in Bhadrak district. When Ojha was connecting decorative lights to power connection at his home, he got electrocuted and fell down. Later he succumbed while being taken to hospital.

In another incident, a shopkeeper was injured while trying to douse fire at his betel shop at Sana Sorada bazar under Soarada police limits in Ganjam district.

The shopkeeper, Satyanarayan Sahu sustained critical burn injuries when he was attempting to douse fire that accidentally spread in his shop from a diya. He has been admitted to Sorada Community Health Centre.

More than 25 were injured at separate places in Bhubaneswar while bursting firecrackers. As per reports, the injured are undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital.

In Keonjhar, a villager of Panchupuli village, Bulu Khatua has sustained critical injuries in his hands during Diwali celebrations. He has been admitted to Anandpur Sub-divisional Hospital.
