Odisha Panchayat Polls 2022 Results: BJD dominates in 1st phase counting of votes

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling BJD dominated in the first phase of counting of votes for Panchayat Polls 2022 results as the candidates of the party emerged victorious in 230 Zilla Parishad (ZP) zones out of 256.

Congress and BJP stood at distant second and third positions with victories in mere 12 and 10 ZP seats, respectively.

Independent candidates and nominees of other parties secured win in two zones each.

Notably, counting of votes for as many as 315 ZP zones started yesterday while results of 256 seats have been declared, till last reports came in.

Similarly, counting of votes for 305 more seats was underway from this morning. Counting for 231 remaining zones is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

Results for a total of 851 ZP zones will be declared after the conclusion of the entire counting process.
