Odisha plumbers stranded in flood-hit J&K

Several plumbers of Odisha’s Kendrapara district are stranded in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir.

Panicky family members have sought the help of the district administration for the safe return of the stranded plumbers.

“The administration has taken up the matter with the principal relief commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir though state government agencies for the safe return of these plumbers,” district collector Pramod Kumar Das told the media persons today.

Stating that some of the stranded plumbers have managed to communicate with their family members, the collector said he had asked district labour officer to keep in constant touch with the families of the stranded workers to know their conditions and whereabouts.

The state government would take all possible steps to ensure their safe return to their native villages, Das added.

According to reports, several plumbers from Balipatana, Badamulabasanta, Penthapala, Srirampur, Belapala, Taradipala, Alapua, Kasanta, Balipada and Pattamundai Notified Area Council are stranded in Srinagar and its outskirts due to the massive flood.
