Odisha police arrest BJP leader in land fraud case

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate police have arrested BJP’s Mayurbhanj district president Krushna Chandra Mohapatra in connection with a land sale fraud and cheque bounce case.

Mohapatra, suspended from the party two days ago, was arrested from CDA area in Cuttack yesterday as per court’s directive.

According to reports, Mohapatra had received Rs 1 crore in advance from a person to sell his land in Bhubaneswar. However, he sold the land to another party.

When the concerned person asked the BJP man for the amount, the latter gave him a cheque which bounced in bank.

The victim had lodged a complaint with Infocity police against Mohapatra alleging fraud in the land sale.

The Commissionerate police along with the Baripada police had raided Mohapatra’s house on November 17 night after the court issued a warrant.
