Odisha police arrest three in Jhinkiria gang rape case

Cuttack, Aug 19:

The Cuttack Sadar police today arrested three persons in connection with the loot and gang rape incident at Jhinkiria village last month.

The arrested were identified as Jaga Das of Kendrapada, Dillip Das and Sanjay Das, both hailing from Dhamnagar. The trio was arrested from Bhadrak. Police have seized the mobile phone of the victim from their possession, sources said.

Several cases including those of loot and dacoity are pending against the accused at Bhadrak, Dhamnagar, Patakura, Tangi and Jajpur Town police stations, sources added.

Police had earlier arrested prime accused Gadadhar Das and his aide Ratnakar Das in the case.

Notably, four miscreants had allegedly gang-raped a woman after looting valuables from her house at Jhinkiria village under Cuttack Sadar police limits in the wee hours on July 27.

The miscreants had allegedly lifted off the woman to the river bank 1.5 km away from her home and gang raped her.
