Odisha Police launches FM radio programme on traffic awareness

Aiming to create public awareness on road safety and traffic rules, the Commissionerate Police launched a programme named ‘Awareness programme through Radio’ through FM Radio and community radio in the Odisha capital today.

CP Press meet Announcing the launch of the programme at a press briefing here, Twin City Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma said the FM Radio stations and community radio operating in the city would make people aware about traffic rules like use of helmet and seat belt while driving, crossing the road at Zebra Crossings and driving along the route without taking any wrong turn.

“There has been a rush of traffic as the number of vehicles in the twin city has gone up to about 16 lakh. Considering this, traffic awareness is need of the hour”, he added.

Officials of the FM Radios including Red FM, Big FM, Radio Chocolate and Community Radio of the SOA University participated in the discussion organised by the Commissionerate Police at its headquarters here.

“As the FM Radio is becoming popular among the people especially the youths in the city, the programme would yield good results, said a radio jockey”.
