Odisha police likely to seek fresh remand of D-brothers

Odisha police is likely to move the court tomorrow to take notorious Dhalasamanta brothers (D-brothers) on a fresh remand of seven days, said police sources.

The Twin City Commissionerate Police which has elicited several pieces of important information during its interrogation of D-brothers in the seven days remand period which ends tomorrow, hopes to get more such information after taking them on fresh remand, the sources added.

While the police interrogated the brothers whole night on Saturday, it has been able to extract several bits of sensational facts on the murder of Dipu Mallick, the onetime accomplice of the dreaded duo. The police has also plans to take other persons connected with the mysterious disappearance of Dipu.

On the other hand, the police has come to know that Susant Dhalasamanta was doing business with a firm of Visakhapatnam. During interrogation, the police has found out that D-brothers had managed to get several contracts by tender fixing in association with Ramky Group of Hyderabad. Police has come across evidence on involvement of several politicians and bureaucrats in the tender fixing business of the D-brothers and they will be interrogated very soon, police sources revealed.

Police has sought information from the district collector on the alleged illegal sand mining in CDA, Athgarh, Trisulia, Bankighat etc.

“Documents in large numbers have been seized. They are being interrogated on these. We have already written to the collector on the sand mining matter. Everything else is under investigation. Police is already on the job. We have conducted raids at several places. Whosoever is involved in criminal activities with these people, action has already been taken against some and further action will be also taken,” said Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora briefing reporters.
