Odisha Police nab two PLFI members in Rourkela

Rourkela, May 19:  Police today nabbed two members of People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) for demanding extortion money from a person of Sanjoda village under Bisra police station limits near Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

ArrestThe two arrested PLFI members have been identified as Bias Lakhua (19) and Mangatram Lakhua (24) from Manoharpur area.

Police seized two mobile phones from their possession.

Giving details at a press briefing, IIC of Bisra police station Sushanta Das said the two arrested youths, working as associates of PLFI leader Akash Singh, had called a man of Sanjoda village on May 11 in a mobile phone asking him to pay Rs 3 lakh extortion money.

Following the call, the man had later lodged a complaint with the Bisra Police.

As planned, the man informed the police after receiving a call from the two PLFI members this morning.

Later, a team of Bisra police, led by the IIC, rushed to the village and arrested the duo who were later forwarded to the court.

Das said a kidnapping and rape case had earlier been registered against these two PLFI cadre at Manoharpur area.

“Police are in the hunt for their leader Akash Singh”, he added.
