Odisha police officers undergo cyber crime training

In a bid to contain the ever spiralling cases of cyber crime in the state, Odisha Crime Branch today organised a special training program for police officers at its headquarters in Cuttack.

The workshop was attended by many cyber experts of the state along with senior officials of Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) – Kolkata. Two police officials from each district of the state participated in the training program.

The workshop focused on hacking, crimes pertaining to social media, online fraud, ATM fraud and fraud committed through phone calls.

Experts guided the officers through various techniques of investigation and the sections to be invoked while pressing charges for different types of cases of cyber crime, said a police officers present in the workshop.

“This is part of the series training programs we have been organising over the years. Cyber crime is an extremely important area and everyone in the police force should be familiar with it. It is a great opportunity from people from different police stations where such technical knowledge is not available,” said Special DG (Crime) BK Sharma addressing the gathering.

“When you go back, register more and more of cyber crime cases so that Odisha police is not dubbed as a police force that lacks technical knowledge to investigate into cyber offences,” he further advised the officers.
