Odisha police target 7 top Maoist leaders active in borders areas

The Odisha Police have targeted seven top Maoist leaders operating in the southern districts of the state bordering Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, in the ongoing “Operation All Out”.

At present, two  committees of the Maoist outfit are operating in the south-western districts of the state.

While the Andhra Odisha Special Border Zonal Committee (AOSBZC) is led by Central Committee member Ramakrishna alias Hargopal alias RK, the Odisha State Committee is led by Manoj alias Balakrishna.

The State Police have launched “Operation All Out” last week to track down Ramakrishna, who is presently operating in the cut-off area of Malkangiri district.

Besides, police had also got the information about the presence of Jampana, another top Maoist ledaer, during a raid on a Maoist camp in Kalahandi district.

Two top Maoist leaders – Daya and Uday alias Ganesh alias Poonam Chand – are in charge of Koraput and Malkangiri divisions respectively.

As per intelligence inputs, two other top Maoist leaders—Murali and Pravin—are leading the Nuapada Division as its head and secretary respectively.

“On the basis of the intelligence reports, the Odisha Police, in association with their Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh counterparts, have intensified combing operations to nab these top Maoist leaders,” IG, south-western range, Yashwant Jethwa told OST.
