Odisha polls: 101 nominations for LS polls, 766 for Assembly polls found valid

Bhubaneswar, Mar 28:

The election commission has found 867 nominations valid for the 11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly constituencies going to polls in the second phase on April 17.POLL 2014

While 105 candidates had filed nomination papers for the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies, 101 nominations were found valid, said official sources of state electoral office here.

The maximum of 13 nominations have been filed for Dhenkanal constituency while Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Puri received seven nominations each and all of them have been found valid.

While 836 candidates had filed nominations for the 77 Assembly seats, 766 nominations were found valid. Ekamra seat of Bhubaneswar  had the highest number of 22 nomination papers filed. However, two were rejected during scrutiny, sources in the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) said.
