Odisha polls: BJD replaces candidate in Kakatpur Assembly seat

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today changed its MLA candidate for Kakatpur Assembly constituency, replacing Surendra Sethi with Tushar Kanti Behera.

BJD President Naveen Patnaik has approved the candidature of Behera, the party said in a statement here this evening.

The reasons behind the replacement are not yet known.

Behera, whom the BJP had fielded as its MLA candidate for Kakatpur, quit the party and joined the ruling BJD in presence of Naveen Patnaik earlier in the week.

He had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 elections on a BJP ticket.
