Odisha: Principal of Higher Secondary School arrested while accepting bribe

Ganjam: The Vigilance arrested the Principal of a Higher Secondary School for demanding and accepting bribe today to process service-related bills of an employee of the educational institution in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The sleuths of Berhampur division caught red-handed the Principal In-charge of Kukudakhandi +2 Science Higher Secondary School, M. Tuna Patro while demanding and accepting Rs 15,000 from one Basant Kumar Jena, an employee of the Higher Secondary School.

Based on a complaint filed by Jena, who works as the Demonstrator in Physics at the educational institution, the Vigilance officials laid a trap. When the Principal In-Charge was accepting Rs 15,000 to forward the GPF bill and to prepare MACP arrears bill of Jena, the sleuths caught Patro and recovered the bribe amount.

A Vigilance official said Patro’s hand wash as well as pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction. After registering Berhampur Vigilance PS Case No.15, the sleuths have been investigating the matter.
