The assistant professor of Chemistry department has been relieved of his official duties and has been asked to go on leave after the issue came to the fore.  The vice-chancellor of the university has formed a departmental committee to conduct an inquiry into the allegation and submit a report within seven days.

The man has been accused of misusing his powers and has apparently been doing this since many years now. At times, he takes young students out in his car for dinner at star hotels. At other times, he directly threatens to fail them in examination to exploit them sexually.

As per the complaint lodged by victims, he often calls students to his chamber or to his house when he is alone and shows them porn clips from his cell phone and forces them to engage with him sexually. He has been accused of doing it in several hotels of the city, in the car at lonely places such as the empty place near Kamala Nehru College area and in several parks of the city such as Indira Gandhi Park.

He has also been accused of photographing the nude students and recording videos of the act and then forwarding them to others through WhatsApp.

Fed up with the torture, some of the victims yesterday met the Director of the University Bikash Panda and complained against the assistant professor. Later, they lodged a written complaint in this regard with the vice-chancellor.

“There is truth in the accusation. We have formed a three-member committee to investigate this issue. Action will be taken against him after we receive the report,” said Director Panda.
