Odisha: Puri-BBSR bus service hit over spat between owners associations

Bhubaneswar: Bus service between Puri and Bhubaneswar came to a standstill today following a dispute between the bus owners associations of the two cities.

The Bhubaneswar Bus Owners’ Association has decided to detain the buses of Puri Bus Owners’ Association at Baramunda after a spat between the two bodies over fixation of timings of buses plying between the two places.

Passengers travelling to Puri from Bhubaneswar suffered severe inconvenience today as heavy rush was spotted in Bhubaneswar-Puri DTS buses (city buses).

Auto-rickshaw drivers also charged fares much more than normal day fares from the passengers travelling to Puri in the three-wheelers.

The issue, which has been prevailing for the last few days, could not be resolved even after a meeting of the members of the two associations in the presence of police.

As many as 18 buses of the Bhubaneswar Bus Owners’ Association were detained at Puri by the Puri Bus Owners’ Association during the last 3-4 days, reports said.
