Odisha pvt diploma students can now register with central placement cell

With a view to providing job opportunity to the private diploma students, the Odisha government has decided to allow them to register their names in the central placement cell.

Acccording to Saroj Kumar Sahu, secretary of OPESA, the decision of the government would benefit over 10,000 diploma students who pass out from over 100 private engineering schools and polytechnic institutes as well as 30 government engineering schools in Odisha every year.

“Though the state government has placed terms and conditions for appointment of technical students while signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with with several industries, the concerned industries have failed to keep up their promises. Keeping this in view, the state government should be in constant touch with these industries to ensure the appointment of these students”, said vice presidents of OPESA Bibhuti Bhusan Tripathy and Sunil Kumar Patnaik in a release here on Sunday.

They also urged the state government to conduct Nijukti Mela for these diploma students in line with the Nijukti Mela by the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).

It may be mentioned that the prior to the decision of the Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET), there were two central placement cells in the state.

While the technical degree students of the government and private engineering colleges were provided job opportunities through one placement cell, only the the diploma pass-out students of government engineering schools were provided job opportunity through another placement cell.
