Odisha reels under cold wave as Daringbadi records 3.5°C min temp

Bhubaneswar: Intense cold wave conditions have thrown normal life out of gear across Odisha as 19 stations in the state recorded minimum temperature (night temperature) below 10 degree Celsius by this morning.

Daringbadi remained the coldest place in Odisha as mercury plummeted to 3.5°C there. Other places where the minimum temperature dropped below 10 degree Celsius were Balasore (9.8), Chandabali (9.2), Angul (8.6), Baripada (8.5), Jharsuguda (6.4), Keonjhar (6.2), Sambalpur (8.5), Sundargarh (6.5), Hirakud (8.6), Talcher (9.0), Bhawanipatna (6.0), Balangir (7.8), Koraput (8.5), Phulbani (4.0), Titlagarh (6.8), Sonepur (8.5), Nayagarh (9.0) and Boudh (7.0).

Capital city Bhubaneswar registered a minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued cold wave warning for several districts of Odisha.

Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.12.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.12.2021: Cold wave to Severe cold wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Kandhamal (Orange Warning).

Cold wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Deogarh (Yellow Warning).

Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.12.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 23.12.2021: Cold wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj (Yellow Warning).

“No large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) during next 2-3 days and slightly rise by 2-3°C thereafter over the districts of Odisha. Minimum temperature will be below normal by 4-6°C over the districts of Odisha during next 2-3 days,” the Meteorological Centre forecasted.
