Odisha reports 130 Black Fungus cases, 20 deaths so far

Bhubaneswar: So far, 130 cases of Black Fungus or Mucormycosis have been reported in Odisha and 20 of them succumbed to the serious fungal infection, informed Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra here today.

Besides, 16 patients infected by Black Fungus have completely been recovered, he added.

“Situation in the state is not critical as far as the fungal infection is concerned. Very few number of cases are being reported in the state,” the official stressed.

Regarding  rise in number COVID deaths in the state, he said the daily figures are not based on real-time data.

“The Health and Family Welfare Department shares the number of causalities every day after audit at hospital and district-level audit,” he added.
